I'm not familiar with RC stuff, but yeah the price looks nasty.

If it includes all the necessary RC gear as well as being a good quality scale model (the latter of which one would expect from Tamiya), it's actually about what we might reasonably expect to pay on today's values; given the 'healthy' profit margins our importers, wholesalers and retailers usually like to get.
It's just that I baulk at spending over a grand on a single model. I mean, I could buy how many good quality 1/35 tank kits with that amount of money? Not that I need another 15 to 18 model tanks, what with all the ones I have in boxes still waiting to be built. And then I guess there's the other dimension of that 1/16 IS-2. It's meant to be played with. Boys toys!

Yeah, the cheapest I've seen Tamiya 1/16 RC tanks is $450 to $600 at the AAF Museum in Danville, VA.

Right now I'm assembling this.
It's...not as good as the Tamiya model. The 3 turret pieces (Top, bottom, gun mount) are a rather poor fit and needed trimming...

I think the IS-3 was the watershed in tank design because nobody had seen such a low, squat oval shape before. After seeing the IS-3, western tank designers agreed this was going to be the future and you couldn't build square, boxy tanks anymore like in the past.

Unfortunately for the IS-3, it had been superseded by tanks such as the T-55 by the time it saw combat.
Also, what's this? 105mm? 115mm?

While the IS tanks certainly look cool, they used separate shell and powder bags. This "tanked" their rate of fire. I think I had even heard that they had to return their guns to the front and depress the barrel in order to reload. Not the best system for maximizing fires on target.

The real medical problem is "hatch head", cause by failure of the retaining latch on rough terrain, allowing the hatch to slam forward and smash the occipital skull of the TC. At the very least the TC gets a closed head injury; otherwise he ends up in neurosurgery for his subdural hematoma and/or depressed skull fracture.
