The American Revolution Era Character You'd Like to Meet

This is a complex era, with American (colonial), British, French and other nations all playing a part in the struggle for England's American colonies to secede from "Mother England". Of all the players during this time period, who would you like to meet the most?

For me, today anyway, it would be Patrick Henry. A true renaissance man, he was a political leader, commander of a militia regiment, and established a college during this time frame. I'd love to discuss all of these things with him, not to mention his famous speech.

Patrick Henry, Virginia Patriot

It'd be a toss up between Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. I would really like to get to know all three men very well. Franklin was a thinking man's genius, a gifted politician and a real curmudgeon who loved the women, drinking and partying. He was a truly complex individual who had endless interests and knew everyone of rank, structure and power, both in the NorthAmerican Colonies and in Europe as well.

Jefferson was also a man of endless interests and pursuits. He was another true genius and an able statesman, also the author of our Constitution and the founder of the University of Virginia.

Washington. He was a gifted leader and man of great courage and strength, both emotional and physical. Most revolutions end in violence and oftentimes devour the very institutions that were fought for. Only through Washington's leadership was a like ending avoided in this country.

Franklin among the Founding Fathers, and Henry Knox among the generals.

OK, having thought more, I'd like to meet General Cornwallis. There are a thousand questions I'd like to ask him about his campaigns in America.

On the American side, John Paul Jones, though I suspect he'd be a bit of a pain.
On the British side, General Johnny Burgoyne. I think I might quite enjoy his company.

Oh, what I would give to be able to have a long conversation with Thomas Jefferson. I'd also love to talk to James Madison and John Adams. Seriously, these guys are my heroes.

I would choose the "Georges" in leadership.

George Washington, to see what made him so charismatic and inspiring, and King George to see why he was so adamantly unwilling to discuss or compromise with the colonies.
