So much for respect. I should have known better. People always show their true colors. Of course you will sensor me now because I bring into question your ethics and objectivity.
So much for the "this discussion is degenerating" speech. That only comes to a new guy that disagrees.
Blown out of the water? Yeah, right, according to hows standards? Yours? Well we see your partiality. Not even a comment about how absurd a comment about the Cumberland Plateau and middle Tennessee is.
CUMBERLAND PLATEAU - You even know where this is?
HINT HINT! CUMBERLAND GAP come to mind? Can you say EASTERN TENNESSEE, NORTHEAST TENNESSEE and SOUTHEASTERN KENTUCKY!
Oh, and the others dont even say a word. So much for objectivity.
Sure any drive from CHAT towards Nashville will start out hilly, then as you get away from the Appalachians mountains, it gets FLAT!
I show you pictures of the areas in question, Shelbyville to Manchester and he shows a photo of the Cumberland Gap which is not even close to where the Tullahoma campaign was.

First and foremost, you have NO idea what goes on in the background. Some of my moderation goes on behind closed doors & not out front. I will not "sensor" you....I may censor you, but I feel that you have done nothing to warrant as much. For your information, I did censor R. Evans earlier. I have also admonished several folks on here whom I would consider friends-several whom I know personally through Facebook & such. I moderate, but only when it is necessary. WHat I called into question is not a matter of moderation, but of facts. Claiming that the Civil War wasn't about slavery & that historians who say as much are "revisionist" is nuts. THAT is what I called into question. If you have a problem with my moderation, report it. I've been doing it here for around 7 years. If you want to debate slavery & the war, find one of the numerous older threads where we debate it & feel free to pick up where we left off or start a new one. Please try to understand the difference in me debating you & censoring you. I will come down on you if you break rules. I debate Marshall, Savez, & others all the time & don't censor them.

And had you bothered looking at the map I posted.... you would realize the Cumberland Plateau extends from the Appalachians into middle Tennessee, especially the southern part.
And here is a picture of Liberty's Gap, where one of the major engagements of the Tullahoma Campaign was fought..... and once again I ask the question does that look flat to you?
And Hoover's Gap, near current day Beechgrove TN where another engagement of the Tullahoma Campaign was fought.... right on the road southeast from Murfreesboro
The rest is just playing the victim card...

Hey, Did you take those pictures? I need to visit the Tullahoma Campaign area. I am researching the 58th Alabama Infantry and they fought at Hoover's gap. It was their first engagement as a complete regiment. I was wondering how much of it you can actually visit?

The Cumberland Gap photo is from google images, but hiking there is on my bucket list.
Liberty's Gap photo is from a chalet company that offers hiking tours of the area.
The Hoover's Gap photo is from a Real Estate website in Beechgrove, which sits on right on the other side of the gap from Murfreesboro.

Have you talked to Dave Powell about the 58th? I know he did a map on the Little Giant Division and its fight at Hoover's Gap in his Maps of Chickamauga book.

I maintain that Powell's book is the best single volume on the battle and for the Tullahoma Operations.

This is a staff KNOCK IT OFF. Debate the subject and not the person. Be aware the next time somebody doubts the impartiality or decisions of moderators or staff WILL BE TAKING A VACATION FROM ACG. There are methods in place to handle disputes with Moderators and Staff. Now get back to the subject. - ACG STAFF

It's also the only thing on Tullahoma that's not a memior, isn't it?

I believe so. Powell is also covering the Tullahoma operations in a two volume set out next year.

There's a bad little White Mane book by Mike Bradley too, but it's only a bit over 100 pages long. It's not good.
And Chris Kolakowski published a volume on Stones River and Tullahoma for The History Press's Sesquicentennial Series last year. The problem with that is that he had like 40,000 words to cover both, so there is no detail. It's a decent overview, though.
I did a piece on Hoover's Gap last year that was nearly 30 pages, so the material's there for someone to do it correctly, and I have every reason to believe that Dave Powell will do it justice.

I had to travel back and forth from the "bootheel" and Atlanta and as soon as you get over the Missisip, you get the rolling hills until you get closer to Knoxville, then you get the serious mts going to Chatt and Atlanta.
Coming from Upstate NY, the pics would be described as "hilly".
