Robin Stanford photographic collection

My daughter is a student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas,SMU. They are hosting an exhibition of The Civil War in Photographs by Robin Stanford. It opens on February 7 and runs to March 15 I think.
My question, has anyone ever heard of this collection. It is supposed to contain thousands of photographs that are rare and made by unknown photographers that Stanford has collected over 40 years. I can go to the opening night where Richard McCaslin PhD will be speaking have never heard of him either. I guess I am not to current on trending people.
The chance to see rare photos sounds great, but are they really rare? I have several books of photos including the six volume The Images of War and Ken Burn's book from his documentary.
Would this exhibition be worth the time and drive from San Antonio. I guess if nothing else I would enjoy the time with my daughter.

No idea about the merits of the thing, but if you go with your child you win no matter what.......and you can't beat that with a stick!

Dennis

Just thought I would give an update on this exhibit. The photos are cool but don't make a special trip to see them. Of the thousands in the collection they had about 200 on display kind of dispponting. However Richard McCaslin was very good. He spoke for about an hour about Texans in the War. Really knew his stuff and a great speaker. Would have loved to have him as aprofessor. As Dennis pointed out though it was worth the trip just to be with my daughter.
