Stop responding to threads that are being raised from the dead. This nonsense was dead 9 years ago. Let it be.

There is no way to close threads last answered more than 1 year ago ? And open them only with by answering the moderator.

Well how about this Gerry once a thread has not been answered for more than 12 months, you and the other Mods completely delete the entire thread, this would however mean deleting hundreds of threads, but is stop us ordinary plebs from bringing old threads back from the dead.
Onto the thread in General, Rommel orders the panzers into Normandy and crushes the Allied landings. Paulus orders the evacuation of Stalingrad and digs in across the River Don to rebuild and refit for a 1943 summer offensive. Hitler listens to Galland and instead of the Me-262 being primarily a fighter bomber, it is built as a fure fighter interceptor specifically as a Bomber destroyer.

How do the Germans drive off all of the bombardment ships of the RN and US Navies located offshore, not to mention the RAF and US Tactical Air Forces? Those ships and aircraft continued being a never ending and highly effective thorn in the German Army's side long after D-Day, breaking up concentrations of German troops and armor at every opportunity. Rommel could have thrown-in every tank in the German arsenal into Normandy, but if those Allied battleships, cruisers and aircraft aren't driven off, all those German tanks soon get relegated into so much scrap steel. For another historical account, read about the Allied landings at Salerno the year before.

I didn't realize there was a time limit on responses to threads.
Else why would 9-10 year old threads still be active ??
God help us should any new site members respond to an old thread and be attacked for it.

Please don't take it the wrong way if I don't thank you for Rep points. To be perfectly honest, I'm not on these boards to collect them, although they are appreciated :)

Good point. What about new people to the site, or just discussing something
again (without reading perhaps hundreds of prior posts).

God forbid newbies joining our exclusive little clique, some forget that unless we get newbies in to share their knowledge, then this place winds up like an old farts convention blathering about the same ol' same ol'.
Maybe if some don't like it they can always pass the baton to someone else who is more understanding.

Good points, and these - forgive me, but I have to say it - pointless "Baker's Dozen" threads seem to have been around for a long time and aren't exactly stimulating.
