I think all major US aircraft can carry at least a self-protection jamming pod. OTOH Israeli firms are big makers and sellers of electronic warfare gear so assume they will have the required gear to compete in Middle East.

The book I just finished "Viper Pilot" (see book section) mentions that his Wild Weasel F-16 carried a jamming pod and a "towed decoy" see the following

I can say definitively that they weren't f35s. And an f16 and an f15 look nothing alike to an observer with even a smattering of brains. The 16 is a single engined plane, the 15 twin engined.
Probably your air force was doing exercises. As for them being done on holiday when your new government claims they're forbidden to do them....sounds like a pissing match with the military asserting that they don't have to ask permission like a lap dog.

Idk, it's religious it's not about permission I think, but who knows. :S

I didn't think f35s were operational anywhere yet, not even with the usaf? Thought that there were still loads of technical problems.....

Israel wouldn't have to cross Egypt to get to Sudan. Fly down the Gulf of Aqaba, down the Red sea, hello Sudan. They did that during the Entebbe raid, only flying farther obviously.

Yeah, but technically you're flying over Egyptian airspace for quite a lot of that. That was one of the big risks of the Entebbe raid....getting over the Egyptian airspace without being noticed....once they got to Africa it got easier as there were fewer radars to dodge.
Still, Israel has a knack for not provoking its bigger neighbors unless it actually wants to do something. I'd definitely say that this wasn't Israeli because nothing in Egypt got the crap bombed out of it during the overflight.

Please don't take it the wrong way if I don't thank you for Rep points. To be perfectly honest, I'm not on these boards to collect them, although they are appreciated :)

I think you could fly the whole thing over water. That would be international airspace wouldn't it?
I forgot that Israel controlled the sinai in 1976. That would've made that part of the trip easier.
