In 2008 the last known surviving E14Y1 Glens were found on the wreck of the Akibasan Maru
sunk Jan 30 1944 at Kwajalein island.

BTW I can heartily recommend the book mentioned in the article.

One German aircraft used by Greece and Finland during WWII was the Dornier DO 22. Normally a floatplane, the Greeks removed the floats during the war with Italy and used it as an Army Cooperation aircraft.

2 aircraft I believe have not been mentioned:

Cant Z.501 -

The single engine seaplane with turret on top of engine.
Italian, but this picture shows it in service with Romania.

BTW, does anyone know if Axis had something similar
to Lend Lease, or was all foreign equipment sold?

HP 42 -

The 4 engine biplane. Used prewar as a civilian airliner.
Taken over by the RAF and used as a transport.

Vickers Valentia

The Valentia was used as a Night Bomber in the early stages of the War in North Africa and Eastern Mediterranean. Biggest biplane used in the war?

Hardly...

The French were still using the LeO 20 as a night bomber in 1940...

And the LeO 25 maritime patrol bomber, both with wheels and floats...

The Germans captured about 50 of these and continued to use them for maritime patrol and as trainers until sometime in 1944.

So many memories and so many broken links. I'm glad this thread has come back to life.

But here is the Boeing 307 Stratoliner aka C-75 which saw service in limited numbers during the war. Here is one in camouflage and markings.

Here is a real one.

Curtiss-Wright CW-21 Demon was an aircraft that the militaries had high hopes for but turned out to be disappointing due mainly to lack of pilot protection and self-sealing fuel tanks along with lack of numbers. In some ways it was superior to some of contemporary Japanese fighters.

Only on paper, contemporary Japanese fighters made mincemeat of the ones sold to the Dutch East Indies and I suspect that in reality the only people who had high hopes were the Curtiss Wright salesmen

From Wiki: which is close to what I have read in a couple of books:
With its light construction, radial engine, low wing loading, limited pilot protection and lack of self-sealing fuel tanks, the CW-21B was the Allied fighter most similar to the opposing Japanese fighters. It had a rate of climb superior to the Nakajima Ki-43-I ("Oscar") and Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero. The CW-21B had similar firepower to the "Oscar", but worse than the cannon-armed Zero. 2-VLG IV claimed four aerial victories during the Netherlands East Indies campaign, but the ML-KNIL was overwhelmed by the sheer number of Japanese aircraft; almost all of its fighters were soon lost in combat or destroyed on the ground.

At this point in the war Japanese pilots were much more combat experienced than Allied pilots and they had superior dog fighting aircraft and superior numbers of aircraft. Until allied pilots learned how to counter their aircraft deficiencies with tactics, the Japanese made mincemeat of most all fighter aircraft encountered.

Personally, I would not have been excited about fighting in an aircraft that did not have self-sealing fuel tanks.

Loire-Neuport LN.40 family. French dive bomber from the war that served in two escadrilles of the French Navy. Slow production rate meant the high casualties could not be replaced. Looks sorta like a JU-87 Stuka from the rear.

The aircraft you link to is not an LN 40, later LN 401. It is the earlier LN 140 (no I don't understand the numbering either) only two flew in 1936. This was so JU 87 like that the German's later charged the designer with industrial espionage. Although the LN 40 was designed by the same team and also had an inverted gull wing there was no commonality with the LN 140. The LN 401 was single seat with a retractable under carriage. The LN 411 was the land based version without folding wings, deck landing equipment and floatation gear. Even before hostilities the French air force had concluded that it was far too slow to evade fighters and was handing its LN 411s over to the Navy. Its bomb load was also inadequate.
