By giving up her carriers, UK has choosen to abandon it's ability to project force anywhere in the world. No air cover, no projection of force. They will lose the Falklands after a bloody land battle with the isalnds being bombed into a wasteland. The other overseas territories will be picked off one by one by whoever wants them because the UK is no longer in the business of protecting itself.

Over the years, the Argentines have not made friends of their neighbors, so if there's to be any shooting, none of them will extend themselves on behalf of Las Criollas que sin huicio.
British forces face one challenge these days, however: they have no means to project air power far from their shores or land bases. Currently the RN sports no aircraft carriers. Without air cover, any British fleet will be vulnerable to Argentine land-based air power, regardless of its limited numbers and combat power. Certainly you'll recall what a handful of A-4's and Super Etendards did near thirty years ago -- and that was with the RN's Sea Harriers providing limited air cover.
The RFA Sir Galahad after being struck by iron bombs and cannon fire from Argentine A-4's in San Carlos Bay, 21 May 1982.
Without aircraft carriers on station with the invasion fleet, that kind of attack will be so common as to virtually halt all British naval movements anywhere within the Argentine air force's combat radius.

Could have sworn we have two carriers.. hang on let me go check...
Yup there's two of them.
No Air Cover, ya mean like that sodding great big airfield in the middle of the islands?
I rather think that the Islands "being bombed into a wasteland" is a bit beyond the Argantinian air forces abilities. Plus there's a few RAF types that might like to have a word with the attackers.

Well there's two under construction with probably one going straight in to mothballs. You're right about the assets we have there though.
