So where did Columbus first land?

It would seem that there is some doubt over this. Given that Columbus himself had completely miscalculated the diameter of the Earth and thought that he wasn't too far from the Spice Islands this is not that surprising.

More important is where he didn't land - America.

Columbus was the ultimate New Dealer: when he left, he didn't know where he was going. When he arrived he didn't know where he was. When he returned he didn't know where he had been...and...he did it all with someone else's money.

Depends on how one defines America - more than the USA - he certainly landed in The Americas. Else the Monro doctrine was based on a load of old ...(inscert derogatory epithet of choice).

I would agree about his geographic confusion - but New Dealers? What has this to do with FDR? - are you really that old?

You really should read a little more carefully. Mark V is correct-you (once again) are not.

Columbus did land in the New World which was collectively known as the Americas.
