Have to admit some apprehension of seeing my first thread resurrected. For a while, I wished I had never asked my question, but I have to admit it got answered thoroughly.

A caption in an old french issue of MilitariaMagazine said that he was saved from lynching by the soldier holding him.
For sure,he tasted the concept of vengeance in the face..
