Dear Joe, you make me very downcast. When I first started this thread I was so happy for my country with the fine results of these polls. Then you came along and spoiled everything.... ...
Let's see if the Russians can raise the stakes in the biathlon competitions this evening - relays. Or would you denounce the results from those, too... . .I'll return with the results this evening.

While we wait for the results I thought I would post another ranking.

The Bloomberg Agency has included Russia in the top 20 in the rating list of countries from the point of view of development of innovative technologies.
The reasons why “Bloomberg” “awarded” Russia with such a high rating were the patent activity, the concentration of high technologies and the level of education in Russia. In this list, Russia stands in front of all the other former Soviet countries and all the BRICS countries (BRICS is an economic alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – hence the abbreviation).
“Bloomberg’s” evaluation took into account 7 factors, some of which are the number of scientists and engineers per 1 mll people in a country, the level of productivity of labor and the intensity of scientific and research work.

Aah, I am sure that one shall cheer Joe up....I am glad for him. Please don't spoil it.
I, on the other hand, can only bring another doubtful "poll". Norway won the mixed (2 female, 2 male - ea. runner 2 shootings) World Championships biathlon relay on Thursday. France came second. Today, the Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen won the men's 10 km (sprint), The french Martin Fourcade came in second. Another Norwegian, Tora Berger, made second in the women's sprint. Ukraina on first and third place. Sorry about that, Joe.
Tomorrow is the biathlon chase (12 km., 4 shootings) in which the runners starts according to the times they achieved today. W.o.w, Hegle Svendsen is first out of the male contestants. Tora Berger starts 10 secs. after today's Ukrainian winner. I am looking forward to that.
