Both arguments are ridiculous.

Were African-American citizens better armed, would it not stand to reason that they wouldn't suffer so much at the hands of police, who are nothing but governments' agents anyway?

Gangsters have guns. Criminals have guns. Police have guns. What's wrong with this equation?

One of the arguments behind "modern" gun control was that blacks were going to take over. After the Black Panthers initiated "CopWatch" and entered the California legislature armed, both the NRA and Ronald Reagan called for more gun control. Those arguments were reminiscent of the early 20th century arguments in favor of the Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914 (which greatly restricted the distribution and sale of opium and cocoa products) and the XVIII Amendment, which prohibited the production, sale, transport, and distribution of alcoholic beverages: supporters of both bans argued that Negroes were unable to handle drugs and drink, and therefore would benefit from the proposed bans. Fast-forward to the second half of the 20th century and the same arguments were advanced in support of firearms bans: African-Americans cannot be trusted to handle weapons responsibly, and therefore stand to benefit from firearms bans. Interestingly, in those locales where firearms restrictions are most strident, African-Americans are hit hardest by illegal drugs and weapons.

And there you have it, gun-control: America's most racist policy.

How do you know how FBI agents voted? How do you know how anybody voted? In this country we have a secret ballot: no body knows how anybody votes, unless a voter announces his vote. As Federal employees, and as law enforcement agents, FBI personnel are quite restricted regarding their political activity: they're prohibited on pain of termination from politicking on the job, or representing themselves as representatives of the FBI while speaking on behalf of a political candidate. I've known G-men, and their voting habits and political views never came up during casual conversation, so how do you know how any FBI agent voted?

Speaking of, isn't it ironic that in Italy the only two "well regulated" militias are controlled by government, and the other controlled by organized crime. The citizenry are not only not organized into any form of militia, they're utterly defanged in the face of the most awesome corrupt enterprises known to man, ie government and organized crime.

Of course, we can go the route of Mexico, where possession outside one's home is banned. Their crime rate is what now?

Personally, I'd like to see more possession, not less -- not unlike Ike's notion of "Atoms for All" in the 1950s: by arming everybody, the value, and consequent effectiveness of any one weapon is reduced by massive dilution. African-American communities are effectively terrorized by drug gangs in places like Chicago and Camden NJ, while work-a-day citizens are legally disarmed and rendered utterly defenseless by indifferent police and bad legislation. They might as well be hostages, not unlike the people of Palermo over the last century. From time to time blacks in US cities hold public demonstrations against violence, and plead for government to "do something" -- just like Sicilians, who organize "no pizzi" campaigns against extortion. Both campaigns do absolutely noting to either slow organized crime nor motivate indifferent or corrupt or frightened governments to action. Such campaigns are little more than glorified masturbation. And as long as masses of citizens in good standing are legally disarmed they'll continue to be held hostage. Chicago's been averaging two murders a day for a couple of years now. Makes what's happened in Las Vegas the other night pale by comparison.

Mi amici, como se dice "hostage" in italiano: cittadino?

You are right about the Second Amendment. My post is to support what you've said.
The SCOTUS has ruled that the right to own a gun is a personal right and not dependent on membership in any form of a militia.

Regardless of how people may feel about the 2nd Amendment, that particular issue has been resolved.

Yes and what we need now, as I posted earlier in this thread, is the other side of the gun control bracket. We know one border on what is too far for State and local governments. Now we need to know the initial wall of what is not to far.

Though even in Conservative areas such as Kent the then social service director was on record as saying words to the effect that abuse by staff was not to be prosecuted. Basically local government is usually corrupt and perverted
We've had plenty of that here, too: "orphanages," "reform schools," "insane asylums," "sanitaria," "psychiatric hospitals," they'd all been dens of wickedness for a long time. Starting in the late 1960s-early 1970s, such the state began closing those institutions. The blowback from the Willowbrook controversies prompted the State of New York to seek foster care and/or out-patient treatment wherever possible, rather than to institutionalize people.

What I'm talking about in Britain today is a conspiracy involving the civil authorities every bit as deep and as devious as anything that the Roman Catholic Church did. The whitewash that the Crown Prosecution Service did on its handling of Jimmy Saville complaints can be charitably characterized as comedy. In case after case after case, throughout the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, British civil authorities regularly poo-poo'ed complaints of sexual abuse of minors. And the treatment that Jamie Bulger's murderers got still makes the blood boil. I'd lay good money that the cnt psychologist who judged their odds of reoffending as "trivial" kept her job at the Home Office for years and years -- even after the perps reoffended. On that basis, how can any parent in the UK consider the government friendly, interested in the welfare of his children? Upon what evidence can such an opinion be based?
