Yes, the next photo will be up soon. It will probably be a weapon of some sort.

I put this in the wrong place before, sorry guys

Ah yes Nemo, we lost our hat.

Well for the record, our Nemo was spot on correct first go with naming this WW1 "lemon squeezer" slouch hat, which I first came across when I was researching some family history. I had an old photo of a soldier wearing one, and at first I thought it looked a little Canadian, but when I researched it, it turned out to be a New Zealander.

Here's another photo and another link. This one has the Infantry puggaree (hat band) and the badge of the 5th (Wellington Rifles) Regiment.

By the looks, I'd go with a Royal Navy Cressy class cruiser. Maybe the HMS Aboukir, sunk by the German U-9 submarine on september 22nd, 1914.

I'm assuming it's a RN ship (if only for the number of air intakes on the upper deck), most probably a cruiser, turn of the century if we consider the lower battery. Now, there aren't that many four-funneled cruiser classes in the RN.

Powerful class: could be, but the masts were different.
Drake class: almost fits, but lacks the numerous air intakes.

That leaves me with the Diadem class of 1896-1898 (HMS Diadem, Amphitrite, Andromeda, Argonaut, Ariadne, Europa, Niobe, Spartiate). Were it so, I would still be unable to tell which particular ship we have here.

Now, I could be wrong again of course

Nemo has it!! The ship in the picture is the Niobe. However, it is not the HMS Niobe but the HMCS Niobe. The HMCS Niobe was the first ship of the Canadian Navy.

An excellent museum!! I have been there many times before and I highly recommend it. Notice the large amounts of debris visible in nemo's photograph. This is part of the damage caused by the massive Halifax Explosion.
