So Kevin, a war movie has you stumped? I figured you or Dan would have already picked it off. But, it is fuzzy. I haven't given much information yet. I'm sure that an additional clue might do it. This was a great movie!

* Loved those movie titles - very appropriate.

I just checked out "Breakthrough" on IMDb. There are two WW II movies by that name. One in 1950 and one in 1979.

I was referring to the 1979 version, which I have not seen but it does star Richard Burton who costarred with Eastwood who was Gunny in Heartbreak Ridge.

Going to bed. See you tomorrow.

I've bumped the original clue forward for us. I'm not even close to having an answer. I'm sure history is in quotes for a reason but I can't figure out why. Like Kevin, the only thing I'm sure of is that Gunny is Clint Eastwood.

It could be Mark Harmon or R. Lee Ermey.

No, and no.

In this movie this actor (who once co-starred with "Gunny") finds himself involved with a Nazi who's interested in the "history" of World War II.

"This actor" is an American Army officer who believes that the Nazi is also an American Army officer (who's particularly interested in discussing Normandy).

Mountain Man has disabled reputation
Sounds like an old movie that starred James Garner.

36 Hours (1965)
John Banner (as Ernst), James Garner and Eva Marie Saint.

Starring James Garner, who starred with Clint Eastwood in Space Cowboys. James Garner plays a US Army officer who knows the plans of the Normandy invasion. He is tricked into thinking he's an amnesiac and the year is now 1950. His Doctor, Rod Taylor, is an American Nazi who tries to get Garner to reveal the plans for the invasion as a way of regaining his memory.

Another film that I have never heard of before this. Fred, you are remarkable.

"36 Hours" came out after his great performance in 1963's "The Great Escape".

What convinces him that he has been deceived is something "incredibly insignificant". You definitely need to see this movie and discover what it is.

* The weather was beautiful today! it's supposed to be around 65 degrees tonight (they were saying "a record low"). Strange weather.
