"Best interests of the United States" is how they are justified. In the case of the Dominican Republic, it's clear that preventing a Communist takeover allowed the country to end up with a better government and economy. I'd say kicking the original Sandinista's out of power in Nicaragua was better for that country than allowing it to go fully Communist too.

Look at how fouled up Venezuela and Cuba are for taking a hard turn to the Left.

Cuba is fku because it took a turn against the US. if there had been a hands off policy of the US things MAY have turned out better
