Oh hell.

I get it, this is a pre-emptive strike, meant to keep them silent, and prevent them from telling anyone that weeks and months of Court-ordered delays might have made the difference.
As if that would not already be obvious to anyone.

You WON, the kid is just dead meat now, and STILL you have to have your Pound of fleshy self-justification?!?

I mean ... god Damn, are things like you even Human?

You really are a very sad person if you believed that this has been some sort of compition to be won.

Maybe the doctor could have flown to the UK to review Charlie before he gave his false hope to the parents. When he examined Charlie and reviewed his notes he agreed with the GOSH doctors, that his treatment offered no hope, as did every specialist in the field.

Maybe he should also have revealed to court and Charlie's parents that he had a potential conflict of interest. You have to also question the courts decisin not to cross examine the doctor, and allow his opinion to stand unquestioned.

Now it has been confirmed that there is no treatment for Charlie, what do you believe should be the right course of action?

1) Wrong :the only thing you could argue is that there WAS no treatment for Charlie, not that there IS no treatment

2 ) Hindsight is not an argument

3 ) The course of action is to do what the parents wanted : the wishes of the parents must prevail on the wishes of the doctors, who have no business in this case : the only thing doctors can do here is to propose, to advice, not to order .

We have seen what happened when doctors decided . Doctor Brandt decided : the results were disastrous ....for 200000 people .

Pain management for an infant is difficult most of the time, pain management for a brain damaged infant on a vent is an INCREDIBLY daunting task.

Non verbal comms, no facial expressions, his rate of breathing is controlled by a machine, paralysis etc etc....

Sorry this STUPID comment escaped my attention but in my defence Pirateship1982 has been saying a lot of stupid things in the 'discussion'.....

And that's enough for a foreigner to decide he has no right to live ?

As in Sparta, only the healthy ones (blond hair and blue eyes ) should survive .

Nice future ..

So did Spartans also refuse to put terminally ill babies on life support indefinitely until every part of their dying body gave up the fight, unless they had blue eyes and blond hair?

Back in the real world, personally I believe it to be incredibly cruel, for everyone involved for people to be on life-support machines during the end stages of a terminal illness. A line has to be drawn, or else where do you stop? Dialysis or bypass treatment for even multi-organ transplant for an end stage terminal patient with organ failure?

I am aware that much of the above paragraph will be meaningless to you in your dogmatic attack NHS, which misses the crucial point that it would not matter who provided the care to Charlie, they'd have to operate with the confines of UK law.

So a private health care provider would have been obliged to act in the same manner.

The twisted b******** at the hospital won't even allow poor Charlie to go home to die with his parents. They aren't satisfied with his death but want to ensure he dies in their 'care'.

Apparently the life support machine will not fit through the front door of charlie's parent's flat.

I believe that it's been agreed that Charlie will spend his final time in a hospice, not at GOSH. I think that the issue with Charlie not spending more time in the hospice was that Charlie's parents failed to find a private paediatric intensive care specialist to care for Charlie in his final days.
