I ask this because as a newbie to the forum, and as I work backwards through the thread, I see IFV and engineer-type vehicles being called "tanks".

I'm not "beaching" about a broader definition, I'm just curious if there is one...or is it "it's a tank in the eye of the beholder"
As DogDodger has already indicated, it's the sheer length of time this thread has been going, and the sheer number of posts on it.
When folks run out of tanks, they use other types of AFVs (armoured fighting vehicles) to identify.
Otherwise, if we stuck strictly to tanks only we could never have made so many pages, for so long.
So, even though the thread is called "Name This Tank", we are now treating it as "Name this AFV".

Close enough if not entirely correct.

Either a M5 tractor a Stuart Jalopy. The latter I'd guess from the Tac symbol.

If Stuart Jalopy is an old nickname for a turretless recce Stuart, you are quite right.

Nope, I believe that's a British FV432. The '113's driver station is on the other side.

Correct. Also note the step in the armour, between the front and top plates.

Among other differences.

The first time I saw a '432 was as a soldier in Germany playing jeep (M151A2, POS) driver for a 1st LT referee (from 4/7 inf. out of Auschaffenburg) during Reforger 87, and working with the Brit Arty. unit officers and supporting EMs we were paired with. Damned if I can recall the unit, but Brit EMs bring beer to the field! Spent a lot of time "learning British culture" in the evenings. There are worse places than the back of a 432 to get half-drunk in!

Yes it's an FV432 but I was also looking to see if you could figure out which variant from this angle.

Looks Like a bog standard 432 to me.

I can tell you what its not, and by elimination its either a basic 432, a Mortar carrier or an FFR of some sort.
