Republicans Blast "Bait-and-Switch" Health Bill

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Digging in for a long struggle, Republican senators and governors assailed the Democrats' newly minted health care legislation Thursday as a collection of tax increases, Medicare cuts and heavy new burdens for deficit-ridden states.Despite the criticism, there were growing indications Democrats would prevail on an initial Senate showdown set for Saturday night, and Majority Leader Harry Reid crisply rebutted the Republican charges. The bill "will save lives, save money and save Medicare," he said.
The legislation is designed to answer President Barack Obama's call to expand coverage, end industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions, and restrain the growth of health care spending.

I'm curious as to when having the government pick up the bill has ever lowered costs. Will we have $500 bed pans now like we have $200 hammers for the military?

Given the web site, it is quite possible that they "Cleanse" the posting of the quote for political purposes.

Or, they will maintain the practice of hospitals charging $20 for a band aid or Tylenol pill.

The 100+ new bureaucracies will guarantee that cost will spiral out of control as those bureaucrats make the rules and regulations to determine who gets care for what and when and how much doctors and hospitals get paid for those procedures. By then, all private insurance policies will have been replaced with Government mandated ones upon penalty of $250,000 fines and 5 years in prison.

It's all spelled out in the 2,000+ page bill that those details will be added by three years after passage when the actual health care starts taking effect.

2K+ page bill? Holy smokes! This seems like a failure in slow motion.

Deliberately designed that way.

Maybe because you're dead right and seeing reality.

Or you could just be caught like a deer in headlights.

Seems that there is no limit to the bribes being promised for this one.
Watch for a sudden, unannounced vote for this in the middle of the night.

Me, I'm calling my Senators first thing Monday morning, and raising hell.

$200 hammers for the military? what does that refer to? and how on earth is that the fault of the govt, besides the possibly negligent people who are privy to this information but do nothing about it...

Yea, I could see going to the doctor and two days before having to spend hours filling out your paperwork with the help of a health insurance specialist like the tax specialist you use to do your income taxes.......

It refers to the government overpaying for almost everything. If the government uses an item, it has to meet specifications determined by the government. This leads to overpriced items. Fortunately, the lowest bidder get the contract. Bet you can't wait for the lowest bidder to perform your surgery.

Considering the performance of the US Postal System, Amtrac, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, I'm surprised anyone wants the government in charge of their health care.

Obviously you are unaware that such extravagant items are used as a ploy to cover up the black ops program they are supporting?

I'd- err- go with that.

I used to use it in the 70s, when it was government controlled, and people complained. But in the late 90s- privatized- I took a couple of trips and it was far far worse.

Try standing all the way from London to Portsmouth in a very crowded car.

Amtrak strikes me as a stellar performer in comparison.
