Obama Refuses Options On Afghanistan

Obama has refused to consider any of the options drawn up by his national security team on how to proceed in Afghanistan.

Quote:
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday. Obama still is close to announcing his revamped war strategy, most likely shortly after he returns from a trip to Asia that ends on Nov. 19.
The president raised questions at a war council meeting on Wednesday, however, that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama's thinking.

I'm sure he just needs to go talk to the Taliban and they'll placidly contribute to the development of democracy (I see how that's worked out in Iran).

I'm beginning to think that may be the essence of his plan, since Kharzi outwitted him. Oh...and blaming it all on Bush, of course.

Of course, though how he's going to claim he "inherited" a lack of spine and decision making from W, I don't know. I didn't agree with W on most things, but I have to admit the man had backbone and crisis-management skills, which are something I wish Mr. Obama actually had inherited. Mr. Obama has claimed to have inherited all these problems, but he hasn't inherited any ability to constructively correct them, for sure.

Did anyone think he was really going to do anything?

Or that he is capable of doing anything?

If you did, I pity you.

.... and the "Flim Flam" Man waffles again.

Just who in the hell is pulling this putz's strings? I've questioned his incapacity for decisiveness since Summer of '08.

My questions do not get answered. Only the observed negatives I thought I observed during the campaign about him get reinforced by his "actions" now that he is "on the job".

Well.... sitting in the Office, anyway.

God forbid we turn the responsibility for the Afghan war over to the Afghan government!

After 9 years of war what do you want? Do you think American's should die for a corrupt government?

I still say we create a multi-national miltary force for maintaining global security similar to what GDI was in Command and Conquer. Then we use it in the war on terror.

I think the security people should offer their best plan for getting out as soon as they think is appropriate, and I'm sure they did. That's why I'm kinda scared...

But not that much.

I want him to make a decision. Either admit he doesn't have the guts to continue it, or put in the troops that the high command says it needs. One or the bloody other.

But that wouldn't be a win-win situation for him.

I know this is the political forum and not the strategic forum...

1) Why would Obama send in 80,000 troops to support a corrupt government?
2) Why would Obama announce he was sending in 80,000 troops before the rest of NATO commits to 1 Trooper?
3) Blah blah blah.....

If he views that as the case, then admit failure and quit. Don't waffle while troops are dying. Either give them the strength they need or pull them out; doing nothing is a travesty.

You didn't seem to have a problem when American's were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan before.....

It seems your problem is limited to the President.
