About nine years ago (it feels like yesterday) my best gaming partner and I played the Clash Of Arms game, Brandywine/Germantown
. We played the historical Brandywine scenario. He took the Brits and I had the American Rebels. As expected, he pushed my men off the hill in front of Chadd's Ford. Then, however, he decided against maneuver and went for the jugular based upon the British morale ratings and the size of their units. Problem was he had to go into column when crossing the ford and I fell back a little on high ground and slaughtered the British army with musket and cannon fire. By the game's early afternoon turn, he had to concede.
