Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Anyone playing this on PS4?

The game is visually stunning in 1080p and I'm having a blast sailing around the Caribbean in 1715 pirating stuff!

Black flag

I'm playing it on PC and it's really great fun. Especially if you have your ship fully upgraded

I'm playing on Xbox 360, about 1-2 hours a day. I'm not as far in as you two, about 14%. I do play slow, acquiring collectibles. I paid $8000 reales for a pirate captain's suit which they said would give me "authority" and I hoped that was the solution to getting the Jackdaw upgrades -- the harbourmasters won't talk to me yet.

Darn!! 8000 reales down the drain! But at least I look more pirate-y than in Crusader Assassins' robes. That was weird.

I like this game. I am BAD at ship-sailing but will go collect lots of chests in uncharted locations and get practice after awhile. After this I'll go back and play the two Ezio games I missed. I'm in love with Assassins Creed.

I had the same problem with harbourmaster, you just need to go trough the story and after few missions you'll be able to purchase the upgrades. This series is really worth playing.

You are right. Once I finally stopped collecting everything (I got ALL the stuff in Nassau, incl. all the sea shanties, which are very hard) I finally moved the story line along and after I recruited enough crew and shot that hanged man's rope, suddenly the Harbourmasters would talk to me.

I got eaten by crocodiles TWICE. Darn.

Played around a bit more in this one, must say I really like the way this is done,

especially the way the two "modules" (the sailing and assasin parts) of the game fit together is something rarely seen before,

great work

IIRC, you eventually get throwing knives as you progress through the story missions.

Been a while since I played though.

True - that is some soldiers drop daggers that can be used as such - only a couple of uses though and you have to retrieve them manually afterwards.

Makes sense I guess, I do remember them being somewhat overpowerd in a previous version.

Tnx

I usually used either the blowgun or my pistols depending on the tactical situation.

Even carried a musket I picked up from dead soldiers a few times.

Yes, the muskets you pick up DO work.

My favorite is the two-handed battleaxes the big guys carry. If you can kill them, you can pick that axe up and really tear up the next enemy that comes after you.

Not far enough in for the blowpipe I imagine, where do your get it ?

Pistols, muskets and the like work just fine, they're not not silent though

I love this game it has none of the technical glitches or anti-Americanism that hurt AC3 so much. The sea battles are the best!

You get them when you kill a agile guard in a fight. After the fight you pick their dagger up and that becomes a throwing knive, you only can carry one but it is an instant kill.

Tnx

How do I recognize an "agile guard" - I had gathered some drop them and some don't but haven't been able to discern a logic in it.

Also could you elaborate a little on the anti-Americaism in AC3, never played it but seems strange since obviously it's a US product primarily for the US market ?

Not start a poltical discussion here mind you, just curious
