Good timing.
And watch for all the people who were saying "thank you" last month to be saying "we hate those guys!" next month.

French tanks in operation:

Armored cars, really, but they come closer to Tank than anything else with wheels that I know of.
They even skid-steer like a tank... must tear the tires up.
They look like something our own Airborne guys might be interested in.

you are right
Each of these AMx-10 RC weighs 17 tons. That is why the ERC-90 "Sagaie" is used during airborne operations (only 9.5 tons):

What are those truck-mounted cannon?
Looks more like WW2-type stuff to me.

" Caesar" Renault Sherpa 5 Nexter wheeled self-propelled howitzer
Quote:

Its low weight, less than 18 tons in combat configuration, reduces both complexity and cost. Its strategic, operational and tactical mobility is superior to that of other materials, while matching the reactivity of the self–propelled guns and the light weight of the towed guns.

Watching the film it looks like some field guns being transported in the back of trucks. The British did this for a while in WW II. Are these supposed to be French vehicles?

That's a pretty neat system.
Puts the "scoot" back into "Shoot & Scoot."

Update:
Quote:
As France scales back its military operation in Mali, the European Union is trying to turn Mali's army into a professional fighting force to take on Islamist militants and other rebel fighters.
Irish and British troops have joined an EU mission: 31 soldiers from the Royal Marines, 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment and the Irish Defence Forces are training an initial group of some 800 Malian troops.
The project aims to create four new battalions capable of defending the West African country......In January, France sent 4,000 troops to Mali after the Islamist fighters, who nine months before had taken over the vast northern desert region, began to take over central towns - threatening the capital, Bamako, in the south.
Their advance was helped by the fact that members of the divided and demoralised Malian army took off their uniforms and fled their positions.
Major Simon Holden, from the Royal Irish, who is commanding British and Irish trainers in Mali, said the standard of the first Malians going through the 10-week course was higher than he had expected

The European Union will pledge 520m euros (£442m; $673m) to help rebuild Mali, at a conference of international donors in Brussels.
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said the money would help the West African state become "stable, democratic and prosperous".
The conference is the first since France sent troops to oust Islamist rebels from northern Mali in January.
Mali's government has a 4.3bn-euro plan for "a total relaunch of the country".
It includes rebuilding government institutions and the military, repairing damaged infrastructure, organising presidential elections, holding dialogue with rebel groups in the north, and stimulating the economy
