There has been plenty of time & opportunity to "get tough" on drugs. It hasn't worked so far & it never will. Chop off the gangs major source of funds & they will become far less powerful.

Our "wars" on drugs don't work because we hamstring ourselves with overly cautious rules of engagement and concerns over the civil liberties of criminals and murderers.

We don't win because we never intend to win in the first place.

It is the use of loaded "hot-button" words to make the public think something is actually being done. War on Poverty, War on Drugs, War on Terror, War on Global Warming. Just meaningless buzz-words.

If we really waged "war" on drugs, there wouldn't be any drugs or drug cartels left.
