Askari in Munich 1919
I found this interesting photo:
http://germanhistorydocs.ghi-dc.org/...anguage=german
The caption states, that the photo shows an Askari who served in the Free Corps of Lettow-Vorbeck during suppression of the "Räterepublik" in Munich 1919. However, I cannot verify the authenticity of this photo.
I did not know that Askaris joined retreating German troops in Africa!

Sounds highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened. However the English wiki article doesn't credit him with being in the Freikorps, claiming he stayed in the army. He apparently peacefully negotiated the end to the Spartacist uprising in Hamburg - so maybe that is where the photo was taken.

Perhaps not a full units but individual soldiers seems very likely

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine-Division
In 1919 Lettwo-Vorbeck was in charge of the Marine Division. One element of this formation was the "Schutztruppen Regiment Nr.1", which was integrated in this formation in April 1919.
So he could have been a member of this formation.
On top of that, I found no evidence that Lettow-Vorbeck was in Munich!
