Other than looking a bit suspect?
The little John adaptor, is a squeeze bore adapter for a 2 Pdr. mounted in the Tetrarch Airborne tank, to give the vehicle a bit more of a fighting chance against armoured German opposition. The reason was that the Tetrach could not be upgunned. (Not totally true there was a howitser version).
The adaptor was attached to the end of the 2 Pdr. gun barrel.
It works a bit like a choke, by building up the pressure of the propellant gases, with the object of giving the shot, usually hard core Tungsten, a higher muzzle velocity, than normally possible. In a nutshell you fire a 30mm round with a charge for a 40mm round.
The shell (shot) has deformable soft metal skirts, that are squeezed from an outside diametre of 40 mm to something like 30 mm.

Sort of, it is in the same vogue as the Gerlich principle as in: 2.8 cm Schwere Panzerbüsche 41 (2.8 cm sPzB 41) and PaK 41 75mm.

Taper-bore guns are excellent AT weapons, but they can't do anything else.

The Germans used their small-caliber versions until they ran out of stockpiled ammunition some time in '44, but ammunition production was stopped, not through any fault of the weapon (which was superb) but due to a shortage of tungsten, which was used to make the collars and skirts that allowed the shell to, 'Shrink,' as it traveled down the barrel - luckily for the Allies.

I do not think you meant to write this, a slip of though maybe?
The Hardkerngeschoss (Hard core shot) refers to the core being hardmetal or Wolfram (Tungsten) not the skirts, collars or sleeve.
Although in German parlance the sleeve would refer to a discarding Sabot. (Treibspiegelgeschoss or Panzermanchet).

Yep, the core is tungsten carbide, the sleeves are a softer alloy.
