Canadian Leader Has Seal Meal

Trust Canada to lead us all in new ways of being PC:

Quote:
IQALUIT, Nunavut - Canada's prime minister has dined on seal meat in a gesture of support to the country's controversial seal hunt industry.Prime Minister Stephen Harper's lunch with his cabinet on Tuesday included a traditional aboriginal Inuit serving of seal rib meat and liver. Harper's seal meal comes a few months after Canada's governor general ate a slaughtered seal's raw heart in a show of support to aboriginal seal hunters.
Governor General Michaelle Jean, the representative of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II as Canada's head of state, generated controversy for swallowing a slice of seal after the European Union voted in May to impose a ban on seal products on grounds that the seal hunt is cruel.

I wonder if he wore a sealskin fur coat to the dinner?

How is that PC? PC would mean being vegetarian and/or anti-hunting for starters.

Anyway, I do not like sealmeat, too fishy.

He is standing up for the ethnic practices of the natives, is he not? Sharing a friendly MacSeal burger with blubber fries on the side?

Very inspirational.

Obama should run right out for a Buffalo Butt Burger with the local Indians.

to each his own my friend... its legal, within the quota and when conducted in a certain way to a properly aged animal, but there is just something about using a club to the seal's head for purely commercial purposes rather than a rifle that gets to me.

no bigge...

If they're going to kill them I'd rather they use the meat.

Its a brutal practice but if its not done the excess seals will starve. I've seen similar problems in Scotland. They shoot a certain number of male red deer to limit the population but its not enough and with no natural predators anymore the deer starve in bad winters. A bullet through the head and a venison stew is much kinder.

correct, love em all.

really dont want to get into this and i am certainly no authority on the matter, but those animals are bred to be eaten, if im not mistaken the canadian seals are just out there in the wild. not sure how much of a difference that really makes, but i can assure you, using a club to kill turkeys is NOT the US accepted and legal method of slaughtering...

Nah General with turkey they just zap 'em in the head with 500 volts of electricity and then slit their throats.

Cattle or either zapped in the head with some juice or stunned with a bolt pistol to the head and then their throats cut.

The first step to cattle slaughter is very much like a club to the head.

"Bash, bash, bash a seal,
Bash hin on the head.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Bash until he's dead."

Such jolly good fun! Somebody hand the Prime Minister a club.

If anybody deserves a good clubbing...it ain't the seal.
