Actually, there have been a few threads in which the old system - & its failings - were explained quite well...

It just took for it to actually change to the 1 for 1 before some would really listen, methinks.

Awsome quote... It's not really a big deal - medals... something the military has issues with as well... It you're a CPT and get deployeed - you'll receive a Bronze Star... but your Privates (Soldiers, I mean), will receive ARCOMS... It's not fair... too bag they won't make a change - simplify the system... put in your time, you earn what you deserve... I like this new system...

I'm glad you like the new system but to be clear, time as a forum member has nothing to do with your reputation under the new system.

CyberRanger is quite correct...

The only difference more time here makes is that one has been able to recieve it longer...

Whether they did recieve it... is entirely up to the forum membership alone.

The new system is so much better. Now it doesn't matter who you get the rep from, just that you get it. Obviously this will tend to reward those who put in more time and effort here but that is something of a merit system. So it is more than just time in grade and that is good.

For the record John, whenever I enter a coffee shop or fast food restaurant and there is a man in uniform I always offer to buy their coffee. Once 26 national guardsmen showed up all at once. I took a deep breath and still offered to buy, but their captain refused to let me. I aslo offer to buy for VN Vets. Although recently I ran across a fake VN vet. He started to talk a big game about "The Nam" but then couldn't answer any of my questions about where and when. Then he gave up and walked away. He was so obviously being sleezy. No coffee for him

But the next time I am in Stutgart the coffee is on me John. I will even buy you a large because the Germans don't do the unlimited refills like here

So, to get a medal in the rep you'd need (5X10)+(5X25)+(5X50) = 425.

Thanks for posting this. I thought I had been screwed. Now I'm just unhappy (still a fan of the old system).

I understand your pain... but from the newly-ACG-initiated point of view, I am not now so overwhelmed by the veterans on the forum.

Why I remember the first time that "Owner-of-a-thousand-medals" (FM) corrected my Colonially-incorrect view on Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein , I felt like the first-grader being chasitied by a tenured-Oxford Professor ... course that still doesn't stop the occasional anti-Monty spitball!

The system that was replaced was overhauled due to the manner in how rep was handed out, I could've given a medal with each rep... some guys, almost two medals!

The more medals one acquired allowed more rep to be handed out, so it was this problem that quickly spiraled out of control, and it did not distinguish the reputation from long term members from new ones.

This current system should now reflect the rep that is given accordingly, and on merit so to speak.

Admittingly alot of us had "inflated" rep, but the system at the time allowed this to happen, so really it just needed adjusting to separate those who had the same rep but from different people(one with more rep than the other!)

Hope this helps!
