Balance of Terror was my favorite as well. It was very reminiscent of an episode in Hornblower and the Hotspur from C.S. Forester. The episode where there was a chase with rain squalls and Hornblower was trying to outsmart the other captain "who he wouldn't underestimate again". It's very plausible that this Hornblower plot was the inspiration for that episode as Gene Roddenberry was a big Hornblower fan, and modeled Kirk after Hornblower.

Personally I like 'Let that be your last battlefield'. It just goes to show that racism is crap. Black is acceptable on one side of the face, and White on the other.....? The correct side has white on the other half compared with Black?

Best episode ever.
The DS9 rendition was awesome...

Worf: Don't ask. (Before O'Brien or Bashir could ask him about the original Klingons.)

Yeah I really liked that part. DS9 was the best of the series imo.

I know that many Star Trek fans place the OS on an altar almost as if it is some deity, but I enjoy all the other series much more.

William Shatner is usually ridiculed as a third rate Canadian actor, but in all of a sudden he is a god when it comes to ST-OS. And don't give me any of that T.J.Hooker nonsense, you all know you watched it because of Heather Locklear. There are still people out there that have not stop laughing after watching Shatner in Iron Kitchen.

Then there is the matter of special effects. What is the name of that episode with those rock creatures where you can clearly see the outline of someone on his hands and knees with a rug draped over him while he pretends to be a live moving rock? How about the Gorn, how can something that slow with such poor reflexes and lack of cognitive ability able to pilot a spaceship? How about the fight with Khan in Engineering with the 4-foot crescent wrenches.........really? A superman versus a puny human but Kirk always prevails without a scratch or a bruise. Where are the giant nuts or bolts on the ship that requires a puny human to turn it with a giant wrench?

Flash forward to Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise where everything makes perfect sense, no confusion, Vulcan logic is really logic, Ferengi=Jews, Pakleds=Slavs, Klingons actualy look like Klingons instead of a bad rendition of Mongols, Romulans look like Orientals with rice-bowl haircuts but with a blond Tasha Yar so it is perfectly PC, and hardly if any violation of the Time-Space Continuum.

I like the 'Space Seed' episode where Khan introduces himself to McCoy..-

MCCOY: Well, either choke me or cut my throat. Make up your mind.
KHAN: English. I thought I dreamed hearing it. Where am I?
MCCOY: You're in (a squeeze makes him lower his voice) You're in bed, holding a knife at your doctor's throat.
KHAN: Answer my question.
MCCOY: It would be most effective if you would cut the carotid artery, just under the left ear.
(Khan releases him.)
KHAN: I like a brave man.

Sounds like 'The Devil in the Dark' episode, and yes the special effects were pretty basic, but watching them on our ancient low-definition black/white TV's back in the 1960's we didn't notice..
Same in the 1970's/80's, we could now see the episodes in colour but picture quality was still a bit iffy, then when high-def digital TV finally arrived I was mildly shocked to see how cardboardy and unconvincing the sets looked. (sniffle)

Some others that might fit, although Khan was one of the best ones, would be the two with Harry Mudd. He's sort of a Q-like character that creates great mayhem and fun. Or, the one where they find the portal and go back to 1930. Another good episode.

..I try to watch TJ Hooker everyday!
..yesterday, TJ inferred that Romano's love interest was a criminal, and Romano punched Hooker....hahahhaha
and Hooker was quite the stuntman--hanging on to airplanes, trucks, jumping on to vehicles, etc....
..and he could run a long way without getting tired--with gear and dress shoes! ......just like all the TV/movie cops...
...Shatner was much better in ST....the flow of TJH seems more choppy...maybe that's why

Lot's of good ones ...

... already, I'd like to add:

"The Ultimate Computer"; Dr. Richard Daystrom's M-5 Multitronic unit; 5 Constitution Class Starships in one episode, gotta love it.

"The Immunity Syndrome"; planet-killer light - huge single-celled organism that feeds on energy invades the galaxy, Spock explores same in a shuttlecraft.

"Tomorrow is Yesterday"; Enterprise is sent back to circa-1968 earth while escaping a Black hole, takes on an F-104 in earth's atmosphere!

"The Lights of Zetar"; I thought this scene was the most startling and scariest in the series:
