Sweden is already fairly giant, but it's also out of the way, defendable, and scarcely populated, that offers options for neutrality.

Germany is what it is, a major nation state in the centre of Europe.

As long as that's the case it will never be neutral - by its very existence it exerts influence over its neighbours.

You could have a neutral Bavaria for instance - or maybe Pomerania, but not a unified, giant, neutral Germany.

So, in referencing every reactionary political force as "neo-nazi"....you would say that France's Le Pen was a Nazi too. I don't see neo-nazis coming to the forefront at all, their poor sense of fashion and consistent demonstrations of their low IQ prevent them from achieving anything politically significant. They are their own worst enemy.

By contrast, right-wing political groups could potentially gain political status in lower houses of government but that is it. The past 15-20 years of western European government have been consistent about this, far-Right political groups do not get much more than local influence. Why? Because they have too many nut cases who open their mouths and say stupid things.

The German military as it's own entity, without nukes, wouldn't last a month against a Russian invasion. And the notion of a Russian invasion at this time is absurd given their own budgetary constraints and questionable quality of their equipment. Russia true projection in Europe is that of a black market underworld boss.

For France this is a wonderful thing. This means the next battle/war is waged on someone else's land for once. Poland, the Baltics, and perhaps even the eastern part of Germany are laid waste. Historically, being allied with Poland has always ended badly, so let the US have them.
NATO doctrine was to hold the Russians on the Rhine Plain, leaving France as the strategic depth. I don't see Germany leaving changing that, assuming the alliance holds together.
