Navy or Air force?

well Its all my decision in the end, but i'm sure some of you have had experience in either the Navy or the Air force. So you could post Pros and Cons on what either of them are like. It would be very helpfull.

Thanks!!

Hate to use the all encompassing "it depends" but here's my input, for what it's worth.

If you're going officer, at any point, both work pretty well. Understand that in the Air Force, unless you are a pilot, you suffer from at least some version of class discrimination. In the USAF, the pilots are automatically first pick for just about everything. Also keep in mind though, that while hierarchical, the Air Force is somewhat more relaxed in the rank structure (at least in flying operations) because you have officers and enlisted mixed together because of their job. This isn't so prevalant in non-flying units, where the officer to enlisted ratio is more proportionate.

In the Navy (and this is pure observation, no experience) if you're not an officer or a senior enlisted, you are pure worker bee. I've heard stories about officers and enlisted have different stairwells on ships. The term "officer's country" has a huge application for the Navy.

I can't make any comparisons about deployments, or intensity of work. While having never been on a ship, I have been told that even for single billets (which you only get as an officer or senior enlisted) it's still cramped.

Hope it helps.

Louis,

Let me also bring up something. The Air Force has bases in exciting places like Greenland and Alaska, where the rumor has it there is a woman behind every tree! The Navy, on the other hand now has women (and some interesting shower mates) on most ships and visits exotic places like Thailand, The Middle East and all over Europe, but it sometimes is 6 months or more between port calls. Also, now the Captain REALLY likes to tell you where you can go and what you can do in Port. Port Call is not as much fun as it once was.

In time of War, in the Army you can run screaming as far as you want to. In the Navy, you can run screaming from one end of the ship to the other while it sinks. In the Air Force you can scream while you watch the plane fall from the air while you can't run anywhere. (An attempt at some light humor, you more serious types!).

I hear the food is better in the Navy, and they don't have so much stress on bodyfat ratios.

Pruitt

There are other choices....

Did you hear of the Army or the Marine Corp? If you want to be part of the GWOT these are much more into it. If you want to fly fixed wing then your two choices are the ones. Also do you plan on doing this as an enlisted guy or an officer. Both the Navy and the Air Force officer corps tend to favor their academy grads

The Air Force is the most "civilianized" of the branches. I'd vote for the Navy. At least there you have the option of being a SEAL.
