Or on the deck, double smoke trail and all. Or while taxiing, rambling and whining like few other turbojets did.
First flight '58, still going strong. 2020 should be achievable.
By then, the curtain will have fallen.
Alas, I too think the Dakota is still the icon to be beaten, not unlikely so by the Herc.
Watched two TR-1's take off from Fairford. Great to see the run around by the crewmen, the pace car, the little wheels fall off on take off. That wingspan, the pilot's space suit.
