I like it!
I want to foster more pvp, but we have to be careful not to damage the servers when we are still in growth stage. (AKA we need a viable population before people start destroying each other, or there will be no one left when the dust clears...)
Finding a way to have some pvp in a manner which does not breed hatred and war is always a good thing! This is part of why I'm getting us an arena of some sort soon, to complement the events system.
Let's kick around some ideas to flesh out the concept some more.
- How do we determine who the target is? (Only people that want to participate can be chosen? Any player? Forum Poll? Drawn from hat?)
- I can offer some rewards that are fairly strong incentives for people to join in... But I don't want to give out Tek gear every 7 days or something like that - maybe we have some really sweet prizes to entice people to join, but they have to win the tourney or have the most points at the end or something to get the BIG prize? Or maybe a face-off between the top two people for the grand prize - first assassination wins? (Lesser prizes along the way of course).
- How do we ensure that damage (and hard feelings) are kept minimal? If someone managed to kill me in my home base (without my 'permission'), it would be *ON*, because no one is getting in there without causing one hell of a mess... Do we reimburse? Or if we allow 'unwilling' victims, maybe they get a prize as well? Hmmm - I guess the tl/dr would be: is there any way to keep people from being upset if they are targets?
- Are there any rules? For the target? For the hunters?
If we can get this to work out, I could see us having a weekly target as part of the regular series of events, as well as last man standing type things as standalone events as well...
Let's try to develop a bit more, and I'll add it in.
