When I started terminal leave I began working as a direct support contractor for Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager Training Systems. The first few years were focused on tactical wargame simulations. A change of focus occerred in 2005 when the games were transitioned over to the operating forces. We shifted to culture & language games. 2008 saw us come full circle where we integrated the culture & language into the tactical simulations.

My job isn't high speed, I manage contracts for the government, in a nuttshell; I make sure that the civilian companies that make these products, deliver what they are supposed to deliver.

Technically yes (I have an access badge to get in the doors), physically no. I have a desk at CAOCL, MTSD, Dumfries, and at home. My gov boss is in Orlando as is the rest of the PM. I work as an unofficial LNO from Trasys for both of those TECOM organizations listed above.

MAGTF Training & Simulation Division (used to be Tech Div), they're in the trailers by the golf course below EWS.

They talk about MTSD in this article:

http://www.marinecorpsgazette-digita...909?pg=30#pg30

MTSD supplies the requirements to Trasys for M&S.

Thanks. I'm at MSTP and thought you might have stopped by here, too.

In the past 8 years...I'm willing to bet that we know each other by sight...we would end up wasting a lot of time trying to figure out where we knew each other from.

you were with 81s?-sorry if I missed that on your PMs
what's 'boat company'--
sorry, I'm getting around the forum ''late'', and just going through here
been busy replying to the ''popular'' subjects

I see a wiki article that has each company ''trained''? for either boat, chopper, or AAV
all our companies were trained for all--except boat
[ I was Weapons though, so I didn't know what the other companies did all the time --but I don't recall a specific Boat CO ]
obviously all our Cos did chopper and AAV insertion
I don't recall a 'Boat Co', in 3-6, 87-88
we did basic boat training--I thought it was with UNITAS-but I could be wrong [ so long ago, and not much training ]
...but I see on some USMC forums, there is a Boat Co

here's a 2015 article

https://www.mca-marines.org/gazette/2015/07/paddles-out

I've got pics of the Inchon with the other ships--I'll have to see if I can find it
probably an LSD or T.. a rifle Co was on it obviously
and might have had boats....

When I checked into 2/1 (94) the SgtMaj assigned me to 81s as a section leader. When we returned from that deployment I went to F Company which was at that time a Small boat Company.

I was the Platoon Sergeant for 2nd Platoon, one of it's missions was assault climbers. 1st Platoon had the scout swimmers and 3rd Platoon was the trailer force.

I ended up going to Bridgeport to do the Summer Mountain Leader's Course followed by Coronado to attend the Over the Horizon navigation course. I ended up being the chief assault climber and navigator for the company.

The article that you link is good. Back then each deploying MEU had a boat company.

The pictures; first one is administrative...you get bored, you launch the boats.....one time we launched our boats, got out of the boats (except for the coxswain) and swam 50 meters 'across' the equator and got back in the boats.

The second picture is returning to the ship after a mission.

Normally we deployed the boat company on the LSD.
