Human Brain has 11 Dimensions

The Human Brain Can Create Structures in Up to 11 Dimensions

"We found a world that we had never imagined."

EXCERPT:
Neuroscientists have used a classic branch of maths in a totally new way to peer into the structure of our brains. What they've discovered is that the brain is full of multi-dimensional geometrical structures operating in as many as 11 dimensions.

We're used to thinking of the world from a 3-D perspective, so this may sound a bit tricky, but the results of this new study could be the next major step in understanding the fabric of the human brain - the most complex structure we know of.

This latest brain model was produced by a team of researchers from the Blue Brain Project, a Swiss research initiative devoted to building a supercomputer-powered reconstruction of the human brain.

The team used algebraic topology, a branch of mathematics used to describe the properties of objects and spaces regardless of how they change shape. They found that groups of neurons connect into 'cliques', and that the number of neurons in a clique would lead to its size as a high-dimensional geometric object.

"We found a world that we had never imagined," says lead researcher, neuroscientist Henry Markram from the EPFL institute in Switzerland.

"There are tens of millions of these objects even in a small speck of the brain, up through seven dimensions. In some networks, we even found structures with up to 11 dimensions."

Human brains are estimated to have a staggering 86 billion neurons, with multiple connections from each cell webbing in every possible direction, forming the vast cellular network that somehow makes us capable of thought and consciousness.

Interesting for sure, thought I feel like a bit misleading; the brain is full of structures like this when observed with these methods.

Patterns, connections are nothing new though. I am more interested in our ability to recognize, break and reassemble them. In some ways our brains have seemed to develop to defeat evolution itself; a tool that we can improve outside the biological framework.

If humanity is ever described by others, it will be by our immense intelligence coupled with intense stupidity.

Stupidity, or faulty decision making?

The people we choose as our possible choice of US presidents proves we prefer conflict over debate. It also proves we prefer crap in bling rather than someone who prefers debate. That goes for both T and C.

Stupidity = an inablity to acquire new data and process effectively
Ignorance = the lack of sufficient data, which can be corrected via acquiring more data.

Decision making is the processing of available data used toward an effective course of action.

Only US citizens get to chose the US POTUS and only about half of those able to, did so. The variables of that decision are ones germane mostly to US citizens and their concerns. The rest of the world is secondary.

One of many factors was the divide between wealth makers and wealth takers. Wealth makers grew tired of the "taking" from the prior eight years and didn't want more of the "hype and non-change" of the previous Administration and it's supposed heir ("C").

Debate(dickering/dialogue) is still an option and goes on. The "conflict" comes from those whom can't and won't work with a system over two hundred years in place. See other threads for more details.

I think you don't understand how things work over on this side of the pond.

BTW, this is topic for another thread and doesn't relate to the OP.

Belief in decision making is faulty decision making; perhaps then that our immense intelligence always turns against itself.

That is true for some people driving any form of motor vehicle, manifestly ignorant, arrogant and impatient.

The amazing thing I find about the brain is that we have capabilities that we only use/need today rather than when we were evolving. So for example we can operate a motor car, a complex piece of machinery travelling at high speed, although for a couple of hundred thousand years humans never travelled at much more than 10 mph and then only for short bursts and carried nothing more complex than a simple spear.

The wonder is not that there are road accidents but rather that there are not many many more of them. We didn't evolve to drive cars.
