Hauptmann Heinz recommends the following Awards/recognitions:

Stabsfeldwebel Gardner: A Mention in Dispatches for steady and effective leadership while directing anti-tank assets in combat and while and organizing the rear areas of the Kampfgruppe during the action to ensure supply.

Oberleutnant Kolznef: The Iron Cross 2nd Class for firm and steady leadership in the Fight of Hill 170. Kolznef lead his green platoon in a manner expected of more veteran formations, effectively taking positions and defending the hill against a counterattack in force by multiple platoons. He followed this defense with a quick-thinking offensive move to secure the entire right flank of the Kampfgruppe and the line of advance for the Division, in keeping with the highest traditions of the service.

Leutnant Ertl: The Iron Cross for personal valor and leadership. While operating as commander of 4th Platoon on a reconnoiter of possible enemy locations, Lt. Ertl saw an opportunity to seize a strategic hill. By rapid movement and violence of action, Lt. Ertl drove off multiple elements of Soviet Cavalry with his motorcycle platoon and then held Hill 170 against all comers until he was timely relieved by 2nd Platoon and OberLt. Kolznef. Lt. Ertl was wounded in this action and continued to provide leadership until evacuated by KG medical personnel. His actions to divide Soviet forces in the Kergevii area directly impacted the success of the continuing mission.

Heinz sees no cause for censureship. While there were breakdowns in certain platoons, when it counted the men did their duty and accomplished the mission.

Heinz then sits down to the long task of writing letters to families and a list of those to be awarded the Wound Badge.

It's not an actual campaign ribbon, but I did some idle doodling during this engagement and I'd like to share the fruits with my thanks for your participation.
