Never heard of a Strategic Command in the 1960s. Maybe you're talking about the Strategic Army Corps (STRAC)? STRAC eventually got merged with some Air Force units and was called Strike Command (STRICOM). Strike Command got relabeled in the 1970s, Readiness Command (REDCOM). REDCOM went in two direction, the first was an offshoot called the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force (RDJTF) which became the basis for Central Command (CENTCOM). The rest of REDCOM was replaced in the 1980s by Special Operstions Command (SOCOM). At least that's my understanding of it.
