Anyone want to list their favorite 'buy' of 2016???

I have to go with MMP's Battalion Combat Series "Last Blitzkrieg" . Now I'm biased as I playtested it fro 3.5 years. However that said I've played multiple PBEM via vassal since it's release and have had a blast in every game.

A truly new way of looking at battalion level games that is playable but gives you a different look at in entirely. Love the system and the game.

I bought two good games, Order of Battle, Pacific and Decisive Campaigns, Barbarossa.

It hasn't arrived yet (P500 and all that), but I'd have to say GMT's Pendragon. Looks like a fascinating implementation of the core COIN rules (which I'm a fan of) in one of my favourite periods of history.

Hi everyone. I'm mainly interested in "lite war games" like Axis & Allies, Diplomacy, and Titan (don't hate me because I'm different).

I didn't buy much at all over 2016 (tough times), but between Father's Day and Xmas I did get copies of Star Wars Rebellion and Star Trek Ascendancy.

Both are excellent games but I prefer Star Trek. It's an empire building game, where Star Wars really isn't. Also the depth in Star Wars is largely centred on the Mission and Objective decks. This is fun and strategically rich, but I kind of like my strategic elements to be a little more exposed.

Still I'd recommend either or both. Very well designed if you like that sort of game.
