Kremlin is probably lying to you. First lots of fanfare because "mass production of T-150 stealth fighter commencing" then 2 weeks later Kremlin quietly admits Russia can only afford 12 of the new stealth fighters. Russia's wallet is running empty. Even a tiny Israel can afford more stealth fighters because Israel will receive 20 F-35 fighters in the first batch, with more possibly in the future. Still, 20 fighters is a drop in the ocean. Some will be inevitably lost in accidents, others will be in the hangers getting repaired, so only a handful can be in the air at any given time.

Are those fighters who cost trillions, are less performant than many 4th generation fighters and are still in testing ?

They are real. They are in inventory. They fly. This is the combat plane Putin is going to buy Mother Russia:

Until now they look useful only for Hollywood movies.

Past year Russian Airforce get 24 Su-35S, 21 Su-30SM, 8 Su-30M2, 18 Su-34, 10-Mig 30K, 20 Yak-130 and others. So you know where you can put your sweat dreams.

Another Russian Military Plane Crashes

A Russian An-12 transport plane crashed in Chelyabinsk. Photos show the plane resting on the ground fairly intact, so hopefully the crew is ok. 4 days ago a Tu-95 bomber crashed in the same general area. The total count is now 7 serious crashes, including fatalities, since the beginning of summer.

There are comments in world press that Russia is flying an aging fleet from the 1960s and 1970s with a record of poor maintenance and poor funding, especially in the 1990s when the planes suffered from neglect. The same planes are still in the air. Russian Air Force me be being pushed beyond its limit because Kremlin is demanding levels of readiness not seen before.

In the early 80s I had a C130 crash and burn on my runway. I never jumped at the idea that our fleet was old or poorly maintained. Aircraft or complicated.

Generally speaking Russian equipment is reliable and doesn't require trillion dollar bases and logistics like NATO planes. When Russian airfields are in poor repair with with runway cracking and pieces of concrete littering the runway, they just send some guys with brooms to sweep the debris aside and planes continue taking off just fine.

The Russian Ministry of Defence will have a new tank army, as well as one more combined army formed in the Western military district by December.

The armies should be formed by the 1st of December 2015.

The staff and headquarters have already been formed for both armies.

The armies are also the first to get newest Armata tanks and Kurganets infantry fighting vehicles.

Both armies will have reconnaissance and air missile brigades, as well as a logistics brigade, missile and artillery units, a helicopter regiment, attack drone units and many other.

Happily, there's been greater recognition of this fact in the west inside more popular historical works. For the first time in years I watched a History Channel documentary (which are usually heavy in popular and light on history) about WW2 and, despite the overwhelming USA focus throughout, the message that it was Soviet lives that truly broke the Nazi war machine was repeated multiple times, alongside a comparison of casualties just to drive the point home.

Considering this was a History Channel production, I was impressed. Normally, they're either "the war was just the USA" or "lets talk about Nazis, UFOs, or Nazi UFOs."
