Empire of the Seas

BBC made documentary about history of the Royal Navy. In 4 parts.
Professionally made it's a decent source of basic information - especially for those who don't know much - concerning key landmarks in RN's history from Spanish Armada defeat to Jutland. I enjoyed watching it.

Most historical documentaries from the BBC are excellent, it's just that they are dumbing down so much these days that they will soon be a lost art.

The Timewatch series on the BBC, and Equinox on Channel 4, were excellent - peerless infact. Now they are gone and TV viewing is much worse for it.

I always take documentaries with a grain of salt. The more you read the more disturbing inaccuracies you encounter while watching a compressed video presentation. But still are good in initiating watcher's interest in history. And invaluable in providing with information on something largely unknown - as it appeared with this film in my case.
