Thanks for posting this. I've thought for a long time that the Treaty of Paris of 1783 was so generous to the United States that Shelburne should almost be considered a founding father.

Thought Shelbourne's objective was to split the US from the French, Spanish and Dutch as well as set up a future trading partner. Hence the generous settlement.

Yes, I do believe that was Shelburne's objective, but it was very unpopular in Britain and in the remaining British colonies in North America.
