What a mess. Just how much did we spend 'liberating' it?

Thanks bo. (And Hillery...)

It is Sarkozy fault, not Obama. Latter just had to bow to the pressure to intervene on both international and domestic stage.

Group that seized Tripoli takes Libyan government, oil company websites

Duh!

Quote:
Libya's neighbors and Western powers fear the conflict between the two rival governments could drag the OPEC member into civil war.
What the do they think has been going on for the past two years?

Nothing's changed, it's still going on. It won't be long before they take the Libyan oil installations, like they did in Syria.

Quote:
Benghazi: IS militants clashed with security forces near Libya's Es Sider oil export terminal on Monday killing two guards and setting an oil storage tank on fire, witnesses and a Petrol Facilities Guard source said.

According to Mohamed Al Manfi, an oil official based in eastern Libya, the tank was holding 420,000 barrels of oil.

Separately on Monday, a plane targeting militant groups in the eastern city of Benghazi was shot down, though the pilot ejected, senior army commander Fadel Al Hassi told Reuters.

Forces allied to the Bayda government have been battling insurgents based in Benghazi for months.

Libya: Ten Things About Gaddafi They Don’t Want You to Know

So I saw this article on facebook and thought it was interesting but wondered how much was true. Its not just on some fringe websites, and is posted on quite a bunch of websites. Seemed to originate from Urban Times on May 16, 2014, before being reposted on http://www.globalresearch.ca/ The website: https://urbantimes.co/ doesn't pull up for me. They do however have an semi-active facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/theurbantimes So the source is questionable but the information is compelling.

Libya: Ten Things About Gaddafi They Don’t Want You to Know
http://www.globalresearch.ca/libya-t...o-know/5414289

The 10 things are:
Quote:
1. In Libya a home is considered a natural human right
2. Education and medical treatment were all free
3. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project
4. It was free to start a farming business
5. A bursary was given to mothers with newborn babies
6. Electricity was free
7. Cheap petrol
8. Gaddafi raised the level of education
9. Libya had It’s own state bank
10. The gold dinar
They go in to detail a little bit for each point but no more than a paragraph for the longest. They do link to a video which looks very far out there but could have some interesting points.

I don't post this to force you to believe this, only to ask the ACG forum's opinion as some of those points could have very real geopolitical repercussions if found to be true.

Libya was far from the worst place to be -

A socialist dictatorship with oil money to support it *can* work pretty well.

The problem was personal though K. - pissed off too many people around Europe and had to go, an opportunity arose, French jets needed some combat testing, and the rest as they say is history..
