Ghana told to free Argentine ship Libertad by UN court

A UN court has ordered the release of an Argentine naval ship impounded by Ghana over a debt dispute.

The UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, based in Germany, ruled that the ARA Libertad had immunity because it was a military vessel.

The ship has been held in the port of Tema since October when a local court ruled in favour of a financial fund.

So....what if Ghana frees it, but refuses to provide any provisions of any sort, and immediately begins charging berthing fees. Will the Argies be able to get it back across the Atlantic, or will they end up in yet another pickle....

Cool Just turn pirate...

Argentina let its guard down by allowing its premier tallship "Libertad" to be used as collateral to a debt owed to a US hedge fund. In a fight, I think that Argentina could kick Ghana's butt. The only problem is that big stretch of salt water between the two. On the other hand, NML Capital could probably buy and sell the whole of Argentina. Who loses here? The kids who paid a bunch of $$ for an opportunity to train on a world class sailing vessel. Poor little cadets...
