That was production, not consumption. We use about 24% of the world's oil, produce about 18% of the world's manufactured goods and have the world's most mobile population.
And, we'd be fine with that, if the Govt would let us use our own resources.

Consume less.

You mean, besides The IMF, NATO, The World Bank, the Kyoto Accords, Agenda 21, the Rio Summit (lost causes, one and all) the fools (including many in China) that demand we keep troops in South Korea, the W.H.O., and a never-ending list of Global Entanglements that makes me want to puke...

Can't you guys get it through your heads that you should be glad you're not us?
Well, you decided to enter those organisations by your free will and nobody can force you to stay. When you need it you don't give a about what UN had to say and act like you want it. In same time, if you will decide to retire from all those organisations, in what way it will affect your financial and political relations ? I don't think it will do something of good to you.

So, he'll be retiring soon?
Didn't think so, and neither will our own version of Mussolini, either.

I believed Obama was a hardcore communist. Now he is a fashist. Seriosly, Obama was voted in the office following all your laws. He get the majority of votes n a honnest election, there is nothing to complain about.

Soviet Union, not Russia. I don't see much difference between present day China and late-period Soviet Union as far as political organization is concerned, so this explanation doesn't work.

It's hard to expect an outburst of enthusiasm from statements of the kind quoted by the topicstarter.

I don't speak Russian and to answer a question like this I would not trust translation. This is a matter of nuance.
Remember when Mitt made some comment about Russia during the campaign? It was basically a throw away comment for a specific group he was speaking to that meant nothing. If you read the Russian papers the entire election hinged on the US-Russian relationship. You had Russians thinking if he was elected he would attack Russia. "Fox News Effect" indeed.

Quote:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States was trying to prevent Russia and its allies from turning into something resembling the Soviet Union under the guise of economic integration.

"There is a move to re-Sovietise the region," said the US Secretary of State. "It's not going to be called that. It's going to be called a customs union, it will be called Eurasian Union and all of that. But let's make no mistake about it. We know what the goal is and we are trying to figure out effective ways to slow down or prevent it," Hillary Clinton said in Dublin, as reported by the Financial Times.
They will always fear Russia, this is the reason.
