Victory Day
Today is the anniversary of VE-Day, a day of sober celebration and remembrance in Russia and other countries of the once-upon-a-time USSR.
Поздравляю с Днем Победы.

Cheers LCM1, and your friends who didn't make it .
This old world has never exactly been a paradise, but your courage and sacrifice made it a better place.

Yes, Shaa, we know - and don't forget.
"Berlin ist Russisch," (they called the UK, 'England,' and the SU, 'Russia,' they deserved all they got.)

I see all these photo's of men and women celebrating the end of the war, hundreds dancing in the streets of the various allied capitals and I remember that we were glad but apart from that it was another working day.More relaxed of course but we were busy spreading ourselves out over the German ships in Kiel as guards. Have often wished that we could have done something differant on that day. lcm1
