Six of one, half dozen of the other.
I didn't post them in any paticular order, just as they came to mind.
When I was stationed in Washington DC at Headquarters Marine Corps (was that a nightmare-Sodom on Potomac), the Band of the Royal Marines gave us a morning 'wake up' outside in the parking lot in front of the building. It was great. I couldn't help but remark on the similarity of the dress uniforms with ours.
By the way, the percussion section of the Royal Marine Band is better than that of the Marine Corps Band at Eighth and Eye. Don't tell anyone I said that, though, I'll be shot for disloyalty.
Sincerely,
M

Of course they are better, everyone knows that(only some won't admit it!) (just having a dig) lcm1

Thanks, VR, very much.
As for who copied whom, I have no idea-maybe great organizations just think alike.
Sincerely,
M

I am not being sarcastic when I say that for an American to say that is quite a tribute for I do realise how proud you are of your own Marine Corps, lcm1

Where you at Henderson Hall or the Barracks?
I was a course writer at the yard from Jan-01 to Nov-02.

Many differences if you are familiar with both organizations. One is considered a Special Operational Force the other is not.

The US Marine Corps has special operations forces imbedded in its structure.

Nichols,
I was at Headquarters when it was in Arlington, not in Quantico.
Sincerely,
M

Yes... and no. We are speaking of units not services so USMC SOF units will need to be added separately.

Entire military organizations are listed in the answers to the question put in the first posting-so the answer is not 'yes and no' it is what I posted-at least my answer is.
Sincerely,
M

In that case the RM should certainly be in the top three!! Because they do by nature what other Corps are specially trained to do. lcm1
