Pat if the "SPAD" you referred to was A-1D Skyraider, it might be a better fight than you realize. You do now that the "SPAD" shot down MiGs over North Vietnam?

Bwaha,
That Air Force announcement was six weeks ago. Six weeks is hardly enough time to find out if the redesign of the "Emergency Oxygen System handle" works. I would like to know why the primary oxygen system shut down to begin with. What if the system shuts down again and the new handle does not work in the real world? What if the system goes rogue during combat over the Persian Gulf?
If there was room for an Oxygen bottle I would concur that maybe we should go old school.

Why doesn't it?
How about a O2 sensor in the face mask.
It seems like a no brainer...

Obviously, you won't get every AK totin' trooper. But likely almost every 'warship', combat aircraft/helio, SAMs and SSMs, CCC site, most AFV/APCs, etc. Gunnies ridin' around in technicals ain't going to hinder traffic thru the straits.

The Air Force court decided it was the pilot's fault for passing out before he could toggle the back up handle. Yet they decided to redesign that handle and retro fit them into the entire fleet!? Something stinks here!
By the way, the same people say the F-22 is perfectly safe to fly! No wonder F-22 qualified pilots are asking for a transfer out of the pool!

If you talking about hindering traffic through the straight, you will need to sink every speed boat, rib, row boat, yacht extra. You can deploy a sea mine from almost any thing to today. And you can turn any thing in to a MCM.

No, I was referencing the biplanes. It was good in its day but technology has passed it on. Still, a Spad and a Phantom are both cool looking planes.
