Question Johnson Automatic Rifle Demo (YouTube)

I've never seen this weapons in a video so I'm sharing. Very interesting. The awkward side-loading magazine design reminds me of the Krag-Jorgensen rifle and I wonder if it was inspired by it.

If they had made it a detachable magazine it would have been a larger version of the Ruger 10/22

Both the US Marine Raiders and the US and Canadian Army's combined 1st Special Service Force (Devil's Brigade) were armed with Johnson Rifles and Johnson Automatic Rifles. Both units thought very highly of the weapons and used them successfully in combat throughout their unit's existance during WWII.
