Just to put things in proper perspective, today is the memorial day for our 22,993 fallen brothers and sisters that gave their live in the service of the country, or were murdered in terrorist attacks both home and abroad, from the start of the renewed settlement in 1860, tonight is independence night for our 64th year.
It is customary to hang the flag both in honor of our fallen and in rejoice for our independence.
This picture was taken in Haifa yesterday- at the eve of memorial day, I assume there is a consensus (for the time being) that Haifa is Israeli, I'm sure you can spot the Palestinian flags that were hung by Arab-Israelis.
"We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things"
60 years later and some 8,000 km SW of Chosin Reservoir that's the awful truth.
