ANZAC Remembrance
ANZAC day Remembrance …….25th April
To all the Fallen………
I’ve only slipped away into the next room. Pray, smile, think of me. Let my name be ever spoken without the trace of a shadow on it. Life is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity.

Yes, a salute to them all, and to the Turkish dead who opposed them. Especially two boys from Victoria State, Private George E. Darragh of the 2nd Field Arty Bn, a Protestant killed at Gallipoli on 17 May 1915. and Gunner Joseph W. Darragh of the 5th Btry, 2nd Field Arty Bn, a Catholic killed at Gallipoli on 25 June 1915.

TRIBUTES were paid in Portsmouth at the graves of 11 soldiers from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzac) who lost their lives in the First World War.

ANZAC Day Commemoration.
Have just returned from a large Parade and service in Perth city WA,a National yearly event that is called ANZAC day.Starting with a dawn Service and going throughout the morning. A very moving and spectacular event attended by thousands. Regimental bands many differant uniforms including us 'old farts' with our medals up some of us to old and decrepid to march so we ride in jeeps. This year we had the honour of a small contingent of men taking part from a U.S. ship that was in Fremantle port. A brief rundown which I am sure will be of interest to some of you. lcm1

A song in honor of the Anzacs that I found a few years back.

It's a good song-except that it's historically quite erroneous and the "message" given that "No one will march anymore" could not be further from the truth.
Attendences at ANZAC commemorative services and marches have never been higher.

In a way I think he was trying to point out the idea that every year less and less veterans from the Dardanelles campaign were alive and today there are no World War I combat veterans left.

And the band played Waltzing Matilda as the ship pulled away from the shore........... Yes you are right that is exactly what the song is saying, and unfortunately for some of us it now applies to us 'Old Farts' from WW2!! lcm1
