Ground Branch is a tactical shooter that has been in development on and off for the past few years. The guy creating it, John Sonedecker, worked on the classic tactical shooters in the 1990s and 2000s, worked with Tripwire Interactive who created Red Orchestra and helped in the development of training software for the military.
With the success of Serellan's Kickstarter it looks like he has seen his opportunity to get the rest of the funding he needs to develop the rest of the game and get it released.
There's a lot of information on the offcial site below on what the game is and how it will be developed and so on. There's a trailer and quite a few screenshots too.
BlackFoot Studios’ premiere title; Ground Branch is based on the real life subsection of the Special Activities Division of the Central Intelligence Agency. The Special Activities Division typically carries out deniable covert operations on foreign soil and often goes into a situation before anyone else, before Special Forces, before the SEALs, before DevGru; SAD Ground Branch is the true tip of the spear. SAD Ground Branch operatives are mainly recruited from Army Special Forces or CAG units and are experts in field craft, surveillance, small arms, hostage rescue and Close Quarters Battle.

Definitely seems interesting, sort of like a more polished Arma 2. However, I always become nervous when a game dev starts talking realism>gameplay. Some day I hope to see a truly realistic game that is also truly fun, but at the moment the side of the road is littered with "realistic" games that never developed more than a small, hardcore group of devotees because the gameplay aspects suffered as a result.
Still, keeping an eye on this one. There is potential here.
This will always be an issue of compromise as the 2 often collide.
I can't possibly see how you can have both to their fullest.

This is the Kickstarter page with a goal of $425,000 which is a realistic estimate of what they need to get a finished product, however, I feel it's an unrealistic goal. The Serellan KS had a goal of $200,000 and it just made that by the skin of its teeth making a total of $221,833, crossing the target in the last 1 or 2 days.
